Abu Dhabi International Book Fair
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is the ideal platform for professionals in the publishing industry to make connections. The 19th edition of the fair is expected to be the largest this year with variety cultural programmes said Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazroui, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach): "The fair is becoming one of the fast growing book fairs in the Meddle East and it is becoming more professional and attracts more publishers and intellectuals" he said.
A total of 482 publishers from 42 countries took part in the fair last year.
"Every year the fair is getting closer to becoming an international centre for the book business and in the same time it is strict to copy right standards" he said.
The fair, organised by Kitab, the joint project between Adach and Frankfort International Book Fair, "achieved in a short time Abu Dhabi's cultural strategy regarding developing book industry and translation" Al Mazroui said.
The cultural programme of the fair will include major topics that effects the book industry now a days according to Juma'a Al Qubasi, Director of the fair.
"Piracy, circulation and publishing translated books are main topics that will be discussed in the fair" he said.
In addition to that an important exhibition for ancient rare books will be hosted in the fair with other activities and events that aims to develop book industry and its circulation in the region.
